The GHC Scholarship Fund
was established in 1999 to demonstrate our commitment
and support for Our community we have always called home.
Originally intended as a way for the club to support
students from the surrounding communities, the
scholarship fund has also generated positive publicity
for the club itself. While the increased attention given
the club has been welcome, the purpose of the GHC
Scholarship Fund remains the same: to financially assist
seniors that are committed for college that fall. Since
its inception, twenty scholarships have been awarded to
deserving high school seniors and six more will be
awarded this May 2004.
Each year the fund allocates $3,000
to six scholarship awards, each in the amount of $500.
Scholarships are awarded to students from Springstead
High School, Hudson High School and Central High School
who have demonstrated academic excellence, student
leadership and financial need.
T o
be considered for an award, interested seniors must
submit an application form and essay to the school.
Applications are available from the guidance counselor's
office within each school. The schools set the deadline
for submissions, sometime in March. The schools then
forward them to the
Scholarship
Committee for review and selection. After the committee
has made their selections the schools are contacted by
April. The Scholarship Committee presents the awards in
May at each of its high schools Awards Banquets.
